Members of the 71 House worked hard in preparing Engine 71 and Utility 71 for the Grand Convention Parade of the 100th Convention of the Cambria County Regional Firefighter Association. The annual Past President's Banquet of the Cambria County Regional Firefighters Association was held Wednesday evening at the Queen of Peace Parish in Patton, PA. Past Presidents Herb Nagle, Jim Nagle and Chris Cox from Station 71 attended. There were 26 past Presidents in attendance for the banquet. The Gallitzin Fire Company participated in the golf tournament held at the Summit Country Club for the 100th Annual Cambria County Regional Firefighters Association Convention hosted by the Patton Fire Company. Station 71 fielded a four-man team consisting of Herb Nagle, Chris Cox, Andrew Nagle and Scott Lingafelt.

After participating in the Chernisky Classic 5K members of the 71 House shined up the apparatus and attended the Community Volunteer Fire Company of Lilly Grand Parade. Engine 71 was awarded 2nd place for Best Appearing Engine 1500gpm & above while Utility 71 was awarded 2nd place for Best Appearing Support Vehicle and finally Station 71 was awarded the Judge's Choice Award for best overall appearance in the line of parade. Members of the Station 71 participated in the Flag Retirement Ceremony held by the Gallitzin American Legion Post 174. Members of the Legion and S.A.L. properly retired hundreds of American flags annually at this ceremony. Damaged American flags are always accepted at the Gallitzin American Legion located at 1078 Hemlock Street, Gallitzin, PA 16641. As always the members of the Legion and S.A.L. did an outstanding job.
This past Saturday members helped give Engine 71 a well deserved upgrade. After 22 years of service the old halogen rotators were removed and replaced with LED lights. The front light bar, intersection bars, rear rotators and flood lights were replaced. A special Thank You goes out to all that helped with the install and to Life Member Dave Urish who donated the new front light bar and rear LED warning lights.
We hope that you will never need us for an emergency at your house. With the large accumulation of snow over the past few days we are asking you to help us. If you have a fire hydrant near your house please take a few minutes to shovel it out. This will allow us to do our job quicker should you ever need us. Thank you!!!
